Suitability evaluation of pre-formed cruciform sample without thickness reduction for high strain values in the center of the specimen under different strains paths

Abstract. In this study, the Finite Element (FE) simulation of an initially pre-deformed DC-5 steel cruciform specimen has been carried out and compared to experimental results. A new geometry sample with local reinforcements without thickness reduction allows distribution plastic deformation gets high strains in its gauge region. The is divided into two steps. first one introduces initial arms. For second step, calculated strain field introduced as pre-strain before application loading along perpendicular arms during in-plane biaxial tensile test. described numerical study expands knowledge material flow using a ductile damage criterion under different paths. results are good agreement for paths, from uniaxial equibiaxial states.
